Hidden Sector Software, LLC

Software that restores autonomy by serving communities, not corporate interests.

Axion Transit Suite

Axion Transit Suite is a modular transit platform designed for small and mid-sized systems that want modern rider tools without surrendering control to corporate vendors. It provides a quiet backbone for locally branded apps, onboard validators, and dispatch tools, while leaving ownership of the system in the hands of the agency.

Axion Transit Suite is built for municipal and regional agencies, tribal transit programs, and any community that needs dependable, privacy-conscious fare and fleet management that they can actually understand, host, and maintain.

How Axion Transit Suite Fits Together

Rider Apps

Riders use a mobile app under your own brand (for example, RapidRide RTS App) to view routes, store tickets, and present secure QR codes or future NFC tokens. The app is built from a single codebase and deployed to both iOS and Android.

Backend & Database

A dedicated Linux server runs a Django-based backend connected to a PostgreSQL database. This backend issues signed tickets, exposes a REST API for apps and devices, and acts as the canonical source of truth for routes, vehicles, validations, and rider accounts.

Admin & Dispatch Tools

Agency staff interact with Axion Transit Suite through web-based administration and dispatch dashboards. Routes, stops, vehicles, fares, and service days are configured through a browser, and staff can monitor fleet activity and validation events in real-time.

Onboard Validator Modules

Each vehicle can be equipped with a small onboard hardware module that handles ticket validation and tracking. These units scan rider QR codes (and, in the future, NFC cards), record validation events, and report location data back to the backend over a cellular connection.

Key Features

For Riders

  • Locally branded mobile app for iOS and Android
  • Secure QR-based tickets stored on the device for offline use
  • Support for single rides, passes, and long-term products
  • Future support for NFC card passes for riders without smartphones
  • Simple, legible interfaces instead of ad-driven design

For Agencies

  • Web-based admin for routes, vehicles, fares, and schedules
  • Dispatch view with recent validations and fleet status
  • Role-based access for admin, dispatch, and operations staff
  • REST API for integration with existing tools or signage
  • Clear data model based on open formats like GTFS

Onboard Validators & NFC Passes

Onboard Validator Modules

Axion Transit Suite’s validation and tracking features are powered by small, dedicated hardware modules mounted in each vehicle. Each unit includes:

  • A QR scanner for validating rider tickets
  • Optional NFC reader for contactless card passes
  • GPS for vehicle location and basic tracking
  • A cellular data connection to communicate with the backend
  • A simple display to show “Scan now”, “Approved”, or “Denied” states

Drivers do not need to install apps on their personal phones. The validator modules are purpose-built, configured as part of deployment, and billed on a per-vehicle basis in addition to the software platform.

NFC Card Passes

For long-term riders and those without smartphones, Axion Transit Suite supports the use of physical NFC cards as passes. Each card encodes a secure token tied to a rider account or product (for example, a monthly or semester pass).

When presented at an onboard validator, NFC cards are handled just like digital tickets: the validator checks the card’s payload against the backend or verifies it locally, records a validation event, and provides immediate feedback to the rider and driver.

Implementation & Deployment

Axion Transit Suite is implemented as a modular platform. Agencies can start small— for example, by deploying only the rider app and basic ticketing—and add components like onboard validators, fleet tracking, or dispatch tools as their needs grow.

The backend runs on a dedicated Linux server, either on-premises within your own infrastructure or hosted by Hidden Sector Software. In both cases, your agency retains ownership and control over its data.

For agencies that use onboard validators and tracking, hardware modules are provisioned and installed in each vehicle. Hardware costs are calculated on a per-unit basis as part of the project estimate.

Overall pricing depends on fleet size, selected modules, and hosting model. We provide clear, up-front project quotes and do not rely on per-user subscription pricing or hidden overage fees.
